Balochistan Assembly: 37 lawmakers debate Provincial Budget

ISLAMABAD: Thirty-seven lawmakers in Balochistan Assembly participated in general discussion on the provincial budget 2016-17 for 598 minutes during the 30th session.

The session comprising seven sittings, commenced on June 19 and prorogued on June 26, 2016. Thirteen lawmakers belonging to PkMAP actively participated in budget debate for 193 minutes. They included Nasrullah Khan Zayray, Hamid Khan Achakzai, William Jan Barkat, Spozmi Achakzi, Nawab Muhammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai, Agha Syed Liaqat Ali, Manzoor Ahmed Khan Kakar, Masooma Hayat, Abdul Majeed Khan Achakzai, Sardar Raza Muhammad Barrach, Obaidullah Jan Alias Babat, Arifa Siddique and Abdul Raheem Khan Tareen.

Seven NP lawmakers including five elected male members Sardar Muhammad Aslam Bizinjo, Nawab Mohammad Khan Shahwani, Rahmat Ali Baloch, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, Mir Mujeeb-ul-Rehman and Muhammad Hasani and two female members Dr. Shama Ishaq Baloch and Yasmeen Bibi spoke about budget for 98 minutes.

Additionally, seven members belonging to ruling party (PML-N) including Mir Jan Mohammad Jamali, Muhammad Khan Lehri, Kishwar Ahmed, Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti, Mir Muhammad Asim Kurd Gello, Mir Izhar Hussain Khosa and Sardar Sanaullah Khan Zehri participated in debate on Finance Bill for 121 minutes.

Five JUI-F lawmakers – three male and two female – Molana Abdul Wasay, Molvi Maazullah Musakhel, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, Shahida Rauf and Husan Bano participated in budget discussion for 99 minutes.

Further, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Abdul Kareem Nosherwani and Dr. Ruqayya Saeed Hashmi of PML participated in general discussion for 50 minutes. The only participating member of MWM, Syed Mohammad Raza shared his views on provincial budget for 18 minutes while Engineer Zamarak Khan of ANP spoke for 19 minutes.

Chief Minister Sanaullah Khan Zahri made the longest speech for 50 minutes on the provincial budget during the fifth sitting. On the other hand, three minutes speech by Muhammad Khan Lehri was made during the fourth sitting which was the shortest speech by any member on the provincial budget.
