Balochistan PA leaves 73% questions unaddressed

ISLAMABAD: The provincial assembly of Balochistan left 73 percent of the starred questions unaddressed that appeared on the agenda of the House during first two sittings of its 22nd session.

According to details, a total of 15 starred questions appeared on the list of business during first and second sittings of the ongoing 22nd session.  Of these 15 questions, only four were raised on the floor of the House while rest of the questions remained unaddressed.  Among unaddressed questions, seven were deferred till next sitting and four were disposed of by the House due to absence of relevant ministers or movers.

In first two sittings of the provincial assembly of Balochistan, the House adopted a joint resolution tabled by PkMAP lawmakers namely Sardar Raza Muhammad Barrech, Agha Syed Liaqat Ali and Nasrullah Khan Zehri. The resolution was regarding withdrawal of sales tax on coal business since the government has increased sales tax on coal by approximately 45% from PKR 1,050 to PKR 1,500.. Another resolution tabled by male lawmaker Sardar Raza Muhammad Barrech hailing from the same political party was adopted by the House that was regarding gas supply to Harnai District and its adjacent areas.

A report of the National Finance Commission for the period of January to June 2014 was also presented before the House by Minister for Services & General Administration Department (S & GAD) Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani on behalf of Advisor to CM on Finance.

A bill named the Balochistan (Wildlife Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management) Amendment Bill, 2015 was also introduced by the Provincial Minister for Law, Abdul Rahim Khan Tareen during the second sitting of 22nd session.

The House rejected an adjournment motion with majority vote regarding illegal parking fee in various areas of Quetta. A total of fifteen Points of Order were raised in the House during first two sittings that consumed one hour and 14 minutes (30%) of the sittings’ time.
