ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms is struggling to arrange its regular meetings owing to the prevailing political situation in the country.

The 33-member committee formed by the National Assembly Speaker on July 25 is required to complete its task within 90 days but it has so far finalized its rules of business which have not been published on the National Assembly website.

The committee members were to receive a briefing on September 1 from the officials of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Printing Corporation of Pakistan; however, it was called off due to sit-ins by Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and a new date for the meeting is yet to be announced.
