Federal govt to launch Green Balochistan Project

ISLAMABAD: Balochistan Minister for Agriculture Sardar Muhammad Aslam Bizenjo says the federal government is considering launching of Rs 18 billion project for improving agricultural sector and making the province green.

Responding to a question of JUI-F lawmaker Haji Gul Muhammad Dummer during the first sitting of 14th session of the Balochistan Assembly, the minister said the project is in its planning phase and new watercourses and reservoirs will be established to improve agricultural infrastructure during the ongoing fiscal year. He said earlier Rs 1 billion were allocated for this purpose in 2013-14 and several water reservoirs were constructed and drains were paved.

To another question, Balochistan Minister for Communications, Works, Mines & Minerals Development, Industries Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri said Rs 50 million was earmarked for construction of Black Top Road in Kech, adding no fund were allocated for installation of streetlights in Quetta since last three years. He said the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation is using its resources for their maintenance especially on the eve of Muhrram or other important events.
