KP Assembly concludes debate on budget

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance Sirajul Haq winded up the budget debate in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)
Assembly during 7th sitting of 14th session.

Eighteen lawmakers –PML-N & JUI-F (4 each), QWP (3), JI, AJIP, ANP (two each) and PTI (one) – took part in the debate that continued for two hours and 44 minutes.

The Finance Minister concluded the budget debate during his 28-minute speech. Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Law Arif Yusuf
presented the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Regulation of Lady Health Workers Program and Employees (Regularization & Standardization) Ordinance, 2014, which seeks approval from the house to regulate various health programs being implemented by lady health workers and also seeks their regularization with service infrastructure.

Arif Yusuf also introduced the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission (Amendment) Bill 2014 which seeks the establishment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission for the prevention of corruption/corrupt practices and to hold all public
office-holders accused of such practices accountable to ensure good governance and create an effective institutional structure.

Two JUI-F lawmakers – Malik Riaz and Nur Saleem Khan – walked out of the House for not being given permission to participate in the budget debate. However, they returned to the House after a minute and delivered their speeches. AJIP lawmaker Babar Saleem walked out
of the House for not getting any allocation in budget for development scheme in his constituency.

Babar Saleem returned after 20 minutes when one of his party members – Abdul Muneeb – succeeded in convincing
him.
