Muhammad Ijazul HaqMuhammad Ijazul Haq is the chief of PML-Z and was elected as a member of the National Assembly from NA-191 in 2013 with 40% of the polled votes. A banker by profession, Ijaz entered politics following the death of his father and former president General Ziaul Haq in an air crash in 1988. He has since been elected as an MNA five times from different areas. He won his first election in 1990 from a Rawalpindi constituency on a PML-N ticket and went on to retain the seat during the polls held in 1993 and 1997. In 2002, he contested the polls from Bahawalnagar under his own party’s platform. He has served as the Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistan between 1990 and 1993 and as the Minister for Religious Affairs and Minorities from 2004 to 2007. He is currently a member of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence and the Special Committee on Kashmir.
