ISLAMABAD: The Upper and Lower Houses of the Parliament continued debate on the federal budget 2014-15 amid clarification from the Deputy Chairman during 8th sitting of the 105th session of the Senate.

Deputy Chairman Senate Sabir Ali Baloch had adjourned the sitting of the Upper House on Thursday after having verbal
brawl with Leader of the House Raja Zafar ul Haq. Clarifying his position, the Deputy Chairman said PPPP Senator Saifullah Magsi submitted a privilege motion against Islamabad Police for lifting his vehicle in front of Parliament Lodges due to VVIP movement.

The Chair said he did not blame the prime minister but only referred the motion to relevant committee. Raja Zafar ul Haq assured
that he will approach the relevant Ministry to further beef up security arrangements at parliamentary lodges.

Taking part in the discussion, PML-N Senator M. Hamza praised the government for focusing its energies on the construction of new dams and motorways that will usher in an era of development and prosperity in the country.

Another PML-N legislator Nuzhat Sadiq said that Rs 21 billion have been allocated for various schemes to empower youth. She said a national health insurance scheme has been launched for the poor which will target 100 million people.

JUI-F lawmaker Haji Ghulam Ali said equal development should be carried out in all the federating units with special
focus on backward areas while ANP Senator Abdul Nabi Bangish described the budget as proelite and said it carries no relief
for the labourers and workers.

Senator Bangash also moved a privilege motion against the CDA Chairman and Member Planning for not giving time despite scheduled meeting with them. The motion was referred to the relevant committee. MQM lawmakers walked out of the House soon after the
start of the proceedings and did not return till end of the session.

House, twenty-four legislators took part in the budget debate. Nine PML-N members including Syed Javed Ali Shah,
Shaista Pervez Malik, Khalida Mansoor, Muhammad Farooq, Sardar Mansab Ali Dogar, Rana Muhammad Ishaq, Ms. Shehnaz, Uzair Khan,Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla supported the various provisions of federal budget.

However, the budget was criticized by PPPP members Ms. Shagufta, Belum Hasnain, Mir Munawar Ali Talpur, Asghar Ali Shah and PTI lawmakers Gulzar Khan, Shafqat Mehmud, Lal Chand and Ali Muhamamd
