Punjab Assembly passes 11 bills in two sittings

ISLAMABAD: The Provincial legislature of Punjab has passed 11 bills during the ongoing 20th session as five bills were passed in 11th sitting and six bills in 12th sitting.

Both sittings (11th and 12th sitting) witnessed low attendance but heavy legislative agenda was taken up during these sittings.

The House witnessed low attendance in 11th sitting as five MPAs (1%) were present at outset and 20 (5%) at adjournment but House passed five bills.  Moved by the Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sana Ullah, the bills passed by House included the Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2015; the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (Amendment) Bill 2015; the Fort Monroe Development Authority Bill 2015; the Punjab Local Government (Third Amendment) Bill 2016 and the Punjab Animals Slaughter Control (Amendment) Bill 2016.

Introduced by Minister for Law Rana San Ullah, the House passed six bills during 12th sitting which witnessed 20 MPAs (5%) at outset and 42 (11%) at adjournment.  These bills included the  Punjab Forest (Amendment) Bill 2016; the Punjab Flood Plain Regulation Bill 2015; the Punjab Vigilance Committees Bill 2016; the Punjab Marriage Functions Bill 2015; the Punjab Economic Research Institute (Amendment) Bill 2016 and  the Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (Amendment) Bill 2015.

In the 12th sitting, the House also witnessed introduction of the Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority Bill 2016. In last 10 sittings of the House, no legislative proposal was introduced or passed by the House.
