Rs 152mn disbursed among students in Sindh

ISLAMABAD: Sindh Minister for Zakat and Ushr Dost Muhammad Rahimoon says 20,496 girls have been provided more than Rs 152 million as financial assistance from June 2008 to 2013.

Responding to a question of MQM female lawmaker Heer Soho during the first sitting of 14th session of the Sindh Assembly, the minister the government is implementing a program in the province for providing financial assistance to the needy postgraduate students, and Rs 17.18 million were disbursed among 2,511 students in financial year 2012-13.

The minister said Rs 525 million were provided as stipend to 562,653 students (boys/girls) out of the Zakat fund during 2008 to June 2013, adding Rs 300 per month was provided to students from primary to middle level, Rs 500 per month to students of high school, Rs 650 to students of intermediate and graduate level, Rs 3,000 to students of postgraduate, engineering, medical college.
