Rs. 17.2b toll tax collected in country during 2015-16

ISLAMABAD: An amount of more than 17.2 billion rupees has been collected as toll tax in the country during the fiscal year 2015-16.

It was stated in a written reply submitted by the Ministry of Communications in response to a question raised by Senator Sassui Plaejo during second sitting of Senate’s 253rd session.

The House was told that an amount of Rs. 17,208,298,044 was collected as toll tax in various regions throughout the country. It was told that Rs. 4,169,976,338 was collected in Punjab North Region, Rs. 3,989,777,155 in Punjab South Region, Rs. 2,647,058,144 in Sindh North Region, Rs, 1,738,531,274 in Sindh South Region, Rs. 2,41,196,978 in Balocshistan Region, Rs. 822,042,778 in KPK regions and Rs. 3,599,715,377 on Motorways.

To another question about umber of toll plazas established by NHA in the province of Sindh, it was told that 21 toll plazas have been established in Sindh.

To another question raised by Senator Gianchand during the same sitting about length of roads constructed by the National Highway Authority in Mirpurkhas Division and in Districts Badin, Tando Allahyar and Tando Muhammad Khan so far, the House was told that NHA looks after the maintenance and development of federalized road network.

National Highway (N-120) Hyderabad -Mirpurkhas – Umerkot-Khokhrapar (220 km) passes through Mirpurkhas Division and is maintained by NHA while up-gradation of Mirpurkhas-Khokhrapar section is included in draft five-year plan (2018-23). NationalHighway N-5 section from Karachi to Hyderabad viz Thatta (199 Km) passes in near vicinity of Mirpur Bathoro, Dadoon and Tando Muhammad Khan Districts and is maintained by NHA. National Highway from Gharo to Keti Bandar (N-110) is being constructed by NHA. In addition, a provincial road from Hyderabad – Badin road to Mir wah -Sanjar chang road-Jagsi to Haji Sawan Road (48 Km) has been constructed by NHA as a deposit work.
