Sindh Assembly likely to pass KMTA bill

ISLAMABAD: The Provincial Assembly of Sindh likely to pass the Karachi Mass Transit Authority, Bill during its upcoming 27th session.

According to details, the newly elected Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed great concern over unreasonable delay in providing recommendations on the draft Karachi Mass Transit Authority, Bill by concern standing committee and directed the concern departments to present the draft bill during upcoming Assembly session for passage.  He was presiding a meeting with the officials of Transport department at Chief Minister’s House on Wednesday.

The Transport Minister, Nasir Shah briefed the CM about the urgent need of establishing Karachi Mass Transit Authority for the development of planned transport system in Karachi.

The Karachi Mass Transit Authority, Bill was first introduced in Sindh Assembly on September 2014 which was referred by the House to the concern standing committee. The committee till now has not provided a valued suggestion on the bill and its report was also not been presented before the House so far.

The Chief Minister has given the transport department go ahead to present the bill during the next session of the Assembly that would be likely to be considered and passed at once. The department briefed the Chief Minister regarding various advantages it may avail once the Karachi Mass Transit Authority, Bill is passed.
